The products by Seung-Yong Song are suprising, beautiful and sometimes a little bit strange. The Seoul, South Korea based designer has a very minimal and practical approach to its products. They are often multifunctional and play with contrasts and the expectations of the user. Seung-Yong Song cleverly combines different pieces of furniture and creates new and surprising combinations that are functional and aesthetically.
The chair OBJECT A for example works with hidden space in a room. A multifunctional and practically furniture, a combination of a chair and a shelf. The chair OBJECT B works with the same concept: Song combines a chair and a ladder and creates a beautiful piece of furniture that the owner allows unused space to use. But song does not only create chairs: V4, a series of vases, combines lightness and heaviness, lines and lumps, smoothness and roughness, coldness and warmt. Many contrasts - good design. The furniture serie DAMI are consist of basket forms and covers and available for different and various usage depending on form and size. It shows visual beauty as well as the structure of Korean traditional grille which has light and sturdy durability. And the lamp RONG allowing to feel like a nomad with a lantern in your house.
